India - December 2015

News inde 1215

Since March, Man & Nature has started a new project in India with a local NGO Prasad Chikitsa. The aim is to preserve the biodiversity surrounding the Tansa Valley, one of the main watersheds supplying the megacity of Mumbai (+ 40 million inhabitants) by developing organic agro-ecological cultivation and softwood lumber production.

The first semi-annual report has just reached us. It mentioned the establishment of two nurseries and starting plantations (1,236 trees for windbreaks). Meanwhile, first trainings in organic farming with species used for the production of essential oils were delivered.

A project that starts well, entirely to the benefit of local communities!
